May 3 -- Haven't really thought about the foot in awhile. The bump is all gone, the skin started peeling a little but nothing big. I think the tongue on my old shoes was pretty much shot and it was getting rubbed the wrong way. The area's still a little purple, but no pain.

April 22 -- Got new shoes today, tried running without the pad and it seemed to go alright. The swelling has really gone down, I think I'm going to be okay.

April 20 -- Ran the workout just fine, but the pad didn't help all that much. Maybe I didn't have it lined up right. Still, it doesn't ache afterwards, so that's a plus.

April 18 -- Saw Tom today, he made some kind of donut to tape to my foot to take the pressure off of the inflamed area. Doesn't seem to think it's too serious. The shoes are pretty old and I've got a new pair ordered, should be here soon.

April 17 -- Long run today, the foot started burning a little near the end of the run. Doesn't really impeding running at all, but it's uncomfortable immediately afterwards. A bump has started forming where the bruise/discoloration is.

April 10-16 -- Just running on this thing for now. A bruise or something is starting to develop where the tendon that runs along my shit attaches to the top of the foot.

April 9 -- Able to race and the foot didn't hurt at all, seems to be something about where my laces rub my foot.

April 7 -- In class today the top of my left foot started aching. Took my shoe off and that seemed to help a bit.

March 1 -- Ran a workout today, nothing new. Still hurts.

February 23-28 -- Just running through this thing and doing what I can for it. Doesn't stop me from running fast and doesn't affect me when I'm racing (thanks to adrenaline I think) so I'm just dealing with it the best I can. It's started to take a couple steps to get it hurting now, so that's good. I think I'm expecting it to hurt and tensing up in anticipation, which can't be helping. Thursday I was able to run almost the whole 3M painfree, which is a great feeling. It still tightens up when I take a break though, so strides really suck. Discovered a new way to lace up my right shoe to stop aggravating the toe, it's working pretty well. Not as extreme as the way Khatch laces his, I just skipped the first eyelet to give myself some room, it seems to have taken most of the pressure off.

February 22 -- Ran 2M this morning. Coach wasn't concerned about my injury affecting the workout, so I ran over to BU with Fivos and ran 6 400s and 6 200s then ran back to MIT. All this running let me figure out what's really up. My ass hurts. Basically I've got a knot/sore muscle/something in the "hip rotator" on my left side. Tom said it attaches up to the lower back, which is probaly why that's getting tight. Going to keep working on loosening up the back but focusing on loosening up this knot. It feels like it's right at the top of my femur, right where the glute and the hamstring come together. I've got two different theories about why this happened:
1. At Valentines I got a blister on the ball of my left foot, which I think I overcompensated for, since it was hurting more than normal. That overcompensation is probably why my toe got fired up. Then I think having both feet hurting led me to limp a little more, kind of switch my weight back and forth more than normal, and my back tightened up.
2. on Wednesday the 16th I was doing my morning run and going down like 3 stairs and put my left heel on the edge of the first one, so I fell forward and landed at the base of the stairs on my right foot. Nothing spectacular, actually took me a few days to remember that even happened. Maybe I strained something doing that. I knew I should have run grass loops that day.

February 21 -- Spent a good hour and a half working with Tom, trying to figure out what's up. Looks like my whole back is pretty tight, guess the years of bad posture are starting to catch up to me. Wasn't able to run at all today, supposed to have a workout tomorrow. Got two tennis balls taped together to use on my back, my spine goes between them and I roll the tennis back up and down my back, supposed to loosen up the muscles attached to the spine.

February 20 -- Good God. Was really struggling to get through the run today, was thinking 12M, then immediately was thinking 10M on the grass, then scaled that back to 8M. Grass didn't seem to help much. I've got all kind of wild ideas about this thing, like broken bones in my back, spine out of alignment, gotta see Tom on Monday.

February 19 -- I was a mess warming up for NE D3s, back was sore and the toe thing came back. Thankfully it didn't hurt during the race, able to run 8:32. Got back to MIT and ran on the grass, but the back was still hurting.

February 18 -- A little concerned about this back thing, stuck to the grass today, but it's still not loose. Should be fine for the race though.

February 17 -- More Grass, back still hurts.

February 16 -- Ran on Grass today because of the foot. It felt a little better, but my back was a little sore at the end of the run. Thinking it's just tight hamstrings becaus of yesterday's workout (semi-fast 200s.)

February 15 -- At the start of the workout the tarsal or whatever from my big toe that runs along the top of my foot was hurting. I think there's something pressing on it in my shoe, but there's nothing obvious. Changed the laces a little and relieved some of the pressure, but it was really hurting on the cooldown, and it started shooting up my shin too.
